Thorough history is important, not all constipation’s are same, some develop after an illness, some after some medication, during pregnancy, menopause, old age and after abdominal surgeries
blood tests- thyroid, other metabolic problems
colonic transit studies- simple test involving an X-ray , which shows the speed of passage through the bowel.
